Jason Watson strikes again!
9th September 2018
One of the highlights of the summer for us this year was Jason Watson winning the Stewards' Cup aboard Gifted Master (advised at 14/1 and returned 20/1 at SP) and the talented 3lb apprentice rider struck again at the weekend on the David Elsworth-trained Ripp Orf, landing the 7f Cunard Handicap at Ascot at advised odds of 10/1.
It was a big result for members, who had been advised to back him in a double with Florencio on the beach at Laytown earlier in the week at 7/4 to 13/8, as as well as in a strong single. Members thus made around 30 pts profit from a 2.25 pt outlay involving Ripp Orf!
The Tin Man is one of my favourite horses in training after he won the Champions Sprint for us in 2016 (along with a huge tricast) and his superb victory in the Sprint Cup at Haydock - winning the race at the third attempt after placing in the two previous renewals - made for an even extra special weekend.
James Fanshawe's six-year-old was advised to members at 8/1 to 15/2 in the week before the race. He was friendless on the morning after the rain arrived from Friday, though he was backed into 7/1 at the off and was given a lovely ride from his new partner in the saddle, Oisin Murphy.
