Normal Service Resumed
17th March 2023
We had a freak (losing) year at Cheltenham in 2022 but we got back on track this week, making +20 pts profit to best prices, with eight winners:
- El Fabiolo (6/4)
- Gaillard du Mesnil (6/4)
- The Real Whacker (9/2)
- Delta Work (Evs)
- A Dream To Share (5/1)
- Angels Dawn (10/1)
- Lossiemouth (13/8)
- Galopin Des Champs (7/4)
Arguably our two unluckiest results were Corbetts Cross, who was worth close to 20 pts profit to us but ran out at the last when holding every chance upsides the leader in the Albert Bartlett (we were on him at prices up to 8/1 ante post) and our main bet in the Brown Advisory, Gerri Colombe, who I thought would have beaten our secondary bet, The Real Whacker, with a better ride.
We've made a profit in four out of the last five Festivals now, however, and in a year in which the ground was testing after the snow that fell in the week leading up to the Festival, making it a tough punting year for Festival punters in general, we'll settle for another winning year.
Roll on the start of the Flat season (end of March in Ireland, start of April in the UK) now!
