Shergar success
11th August 2018
The Shergar Cup at Ascot isn't everyone's cup of tea but it is a meeting I personally enjoy, due to the fact we are guaranteed double figure field sizes with the reserves and there are three places paid each-way.
We enjoyed a good meeting this year with Tis Marvellous winning the sprint opener under Hollie Doyle at 6/1 (advised) and Via Serendipity then striking under Hayley Turner for the girls again in the Mile handicap (11/2 advised).
Those two winners alone made for a profitable Saturday, though it could have been even better had Shaheen landed a sprint later on the card; we had backed him in a 0.125 pt win trixie (cost 0.5 pt) with the two aforementioned winners and would have won an additional 40 pts profit on the day had he been successful. He was sent off 3/1 joint-favourite but finished fourth.
We won over 5 pts off the winning double on Tis Marvellous and Via Serendipity in the trixie, though, as well as singles on both of those two as well so, overall, it was still a decent day.
