Under three weeks until the Cheltenham Festival
22nd February 2017
It's that time of the year again where we look to build up our list of Cheltenham ante posts ahead of the Festival.
In 2016 the service enjoyed a tremendous Festival - which was the result of months of planning in the lead up to the main event.
We ended up making +26 pts profit to the lowest quoted odds in e-mails (in practice it would have been easy to win much more than this due to fact many of the prices in my doubles were settled at SP).
Some of the single winners included.....
- Unowhatimeanharry (Albert Bartlett) 25/1
- Sizing John (Arkle, w/o Douvan) 16/1
- Mall Dini (Pertemps) 20/1)
- Ivanovich Gorbatov (Triumph) 8/1
- Yorkhill (Supreme) 3/1
- On The Fringe (Foxhunters) 11/4
We also landed winning multiples involving all-weather winners we'd backed in the months leading up the Festival with Cheltenham scorers Douvan (Arkle), Vroum Vroum Mag (Mares Hurdle), Thistlecrack (World Hurdle), Limini (Mares Novice Hurdle) and Ivanovich Gorbatov (Triumph).
We were on Valseur Lido (placed 33/1 EW) and Road To Riches (placed 12/1 EW) in the Ryanair and our main ante post fancy in the Cheltenham Gold Cup, Djakadam, also ran a cracker to finish second. All in all, it was a very good week!
This season we have taken long-term views against Faugheen in the Champion Hurdle (the view was he may not be the same horse after his long-term injury) and against Thistlecrack in the Gold Cup (the view was that the race is tough for novices to win) this season and our main bets in these races are now 7/2 2nd fav (from 12/1) and 5/2 fav (from 8/1), respectively. In the Stayers' Hurdle we are on the ante post favourite (who is now 6/5) at prices up to 20/1 (advised in November).
There are still plenty more races to cover before the Festival starts and we will continue to add further Festival bets to our list until the Festival starts.
We will continue to bet throughout the Festival itself too, topping up and covering our positions as the week goes on.
We will be looking to outlay a similar amount to last season with a view to trying to generate a 20pt+ profit on the week that will set us up for the start of the Flat - which is the service's bread and butter.
